Hello everybody, I am
Sharan Banerjee
Hi there! I am currently an Applied Economics PhD Candidate at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University.
My research interests are at the intersection of International Finance, Macroeconomics, and Banking. I am interested capital allocation and firm-level financial frictions, studying their effects on productivity and investment in economies. I am also interested in how global and regional risks, along with uncertainties in macroeconomic fundamentals, influence capital allocation and flows, particularly in emerging and developing economies. I have also been actively incorporating questions around climate change, carbon mitigation policies and green financing into my research focus.
I want to utilize my research at the intersection of international finance, macroeconomics, and banking, built on my masters-level expertise around international trade policy and capital markets, to offer actionable strategies for navigating diverse risks inherent in today’s rapidly evolving global economy, particularly in the context of emerging economies. My research has helped me develop a keen understanding of how policy shifts, market dynamics, and other emerging risks impact firms and financial institutions.
